Founder & owner of The Imagine Company, Vanessa Sandes, does just that for her clients - they imagine it and she turns it into reality.
Vanessa has been involved, in some or other way, in the ‘creative world’ most of her life - she started acting when she was only 4 years old, a passion which she bid farewell to two years ago, particularly because she wanted to pursue her love for interior design and landscaping. She studied business and marketing management, owning her own marketing business for nearly 20 years.
She prides herself in the way she is able to reflect her clients' unique personalities and lifestyles, working with budgets of all sizes. She’s an advocate for sustainable design, and often incorporates green materials and solutions into her projects.
Vanessa’s greatest passion is empowering local small businesses through purchasing products and services for her clients through such businesses.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONSULTATION
Simplifying the client-architect relationship
Pre-Construction Consultation is one of the services The Imagine Co. is best known for. Most of the projects we work on our new builds and we work with several architects to assist them in managing client expectations by fine tuning interior architecture. When an architect is designing a home, there are 100’s of ‘unseen’ elements that they are taking care of on top of creating an incredible space. When a client/architect hires an interior architect like us, it simplifies the entire process right up to breaking ground and way beyond.
LIGHTING DESIGN & ELECTRICAL LAYOUT
Lighting can make or break a space
Every room or building has its own personality, and with a few touch ups and the right Lighting Design Consultation, you can really make it stand out. The Imagine Co. works with clients throughout the whole process to get the best out of every space.

Where and how many electrical points you put into a house is a big deal. You only have onc chance to get it right otherwise it’s really costly to add at a later stage.
FINISHES PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Last 6-8 weeks of construction
Project management is one of our fortes. The last 6-8 weeks of construction can be a challenging time for both contractor and client. We streamline this daunting last few weeks by gently managing everyone involved - client, contractor and sub-contractors - getting everyone to the eventual finishing line in the most effective way.
LANDSCAPE DESIGN
Why not the interior AND exterior?
Vanessa grew up on a farm, in an old farm house surrounded by a huge garden. Her mother, Caroline, has always loved gardening - a talent learned from her own mother - and so Vanessa has inherited the green-fingers gene!
When she started her company, she thought “Why not include my love of gardening and landscape design?” The combination of interior and exterior design allows The Imagine Co. to ‘marry’ the two spaces.
We also offer landscape design as a stand alone service (without interior) on new and existing homes.

FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
The world is a small place
We consult to clients across the world on both interior and exterior design as well as landscape design. Online technology and digital media allow us to connect with our clients and provide a streamlined solution.
We also travel abroad to consult to clients in person should it be required.
Many of the projects we work on in Cape Town have their owners abroad for the duration of the project, whether a new build or redecorating spaces.

Vanessa was assigned to design and install our garden when we purchased and built our home in Noordhoek in 2022 but she ended up doing so much more!!!
We are absolutely delighted with the landscaping she did. She chose all the plants with the utmost care to ensure they fitted in with the estate’s strict indigenous guidelines and also brought in a tropical feel to enhance our aimed Balinese theme. The outdoor shower and its beautiful pebbles, river rocks, granite and gorgeous logs were all sourced with attention to detail and came together in a very harmonious way. Her knowledge of all the different plants and which would work best was very impressive and she set up a very efficient automated irrigation system. She spent many hours designing for us to ensure we would be happy with the end result and went the extra mile mixing paint colours to ensure we got the perfect tones outside. Our garden truly does speak for itself; we really are so thrilled with it!
While we were discussing designs for our garden, it became obvious she has a natural creative flare and was also a magician with interior design. She helped us get various items for the interior which were made locally and much more affordably priced than the furniture outlet stores. We got our beautiful dining table made by her and are over the moon with it, as well as some stunning light pendants which I highly recommend if you are looking for Balinese rattan / Malawian cane light fittings. She helped us source our bar stools, dining chairs and exterior lounge suite from various companies across the country, always following up for us and ensuring the process was as streamlined and easy for us as possible. She had so many creative ideas & recommendations and always tried to help source us good value for money. She was very professional, always contactable and it was an absolute pleasure working with her.
Vanessa is always willing to lend a helping hand and go above & beyond. Her work with both landscaping and interior design have their own special sparkle and she will do everything in her power to make sure the job is completed on time and her clients are happy. I would highly recommend The Imagine Co. to anyone looking to bring some magic to their home or garden!
